Vion Waldkraiburg GmbH
The Waldkraiburg abattoir lies in the heart of Bavaria’s cattle farming area, with a very high number of Fleckvieh. Suppliers are the cattle trade, VVG Oberbayern-Schwaben (Cattle Marketing Association of Upper Bavaria and Swabia), EGO Südostbayern (Producers’ Association of South-Eastern Bavaria) and EG Mühldorf-Pfaffenhofen (Producers’ Association Mühldorf-Pfaffenhofen). At the site, 4200 cattle are slaughtered and 800 tonnes of beef cut each week. 65 % of customers are in Germany, and 35 % abroad, particularly in Italy, France, Spain, Greece and Austria. With its large numbers, the plant near the Austrian border is an important partner for food retailers and agriculture in the region.
